Square Meal review of The Bombay Brasserie:
The Bombay Brasserie celebrated its 25th birthday in 2007, but the grand dame of Indian restaurants still manages to pull in the crowds to its colonial-style surrounds (the conservatory being preferable to the slightly outdated dining room). Highlights from the kitchen include a vibrant starter of palak pakodi chaat (crispy fried baby spinach topped with sweet yoghurt & tamarind chutney), juicy tandoori-grilled king prawns & cauliflower & peas cooked in a mild fenugreek sauce. Other dishes aren’t quite as enticing: a rogan josh was workmanlike & didn’t justify its hefty price tag. Taking into account muddled service & inconsistent cooking, the lofty prices are hard to justify.
