High ceilings, angled mirrors & the elegance of the modern decor banish all thoughts of basement gloom in this spacious restaurant & bar. It’s a stylish setting in which to enjoy a char-grilled chicken ciabatta sandwich with mango creme fraiche from the bar menu, or something more substantial from the main menu: tuna carpaccio with rocket, chilli & lemon to start, crumbed veal escalope with anchovy beurre noisette to follow, or perhaps a classy veggie main course of grilled asparagus with poached egg & truffle hollandaise. The eclectic wine list has a bias towards French bottles in the higher price ranges; there’s a reasonable choice by the glass & some half bottles, plus plenty of fizz. Martinis dominate the cocktail menu.
