Square Meal Review of Smollensky's Canary Wharf ?

Suits & shoppers mingle happily at the Docklands branch of Smollensky’s by Canary Wharf station. The bookable alfresco plaza tables are always oversubscribed, though more discreet berths are found inside the buzzy bar or sophisticated first-floor restaurant. Now open at the weekend, it’s hopping most of the time, with special offers including happy-hour cocktails & kids-eat-free deals. More than just a steakhouse (though steaks & burgers make up a goodly part of the menu), Smollensky’s tours the modern American culinary canon from Cajun jambalaya & Boston fishcake to BBQ rack of ribs with fries & slaw. Sandwiches & sharing platters are on the bar menu. Wine-wise, there’s no shortage of interesting choice by the glass & the list is happy to hang its hat anywhere around the globe.

    sexdrugsandbaconrolls :: Smollensky’s Canary Wharf

    We opted for a steak one night when in Canary Wharf and decided to try Smollensky’s as it was close by and we hoped they could serve up a good steak as they were a grill house. We walked into the upstairs part of the restaurant from the top floor entrance which was empty apart from two couples dining at opposite ends of the restaurant. Not the best sign but then it was fairly late on a Tuesday. We were unsure if it was open as it was so dark but once we popped our heads inside, a waiter/bar man behind the bar showed us to a table. We had a choice of any tables as it was so empty. We choose a seat at the end of the restaurant by the window that over looked the water at the dock and the Reuters building opposite with its constant stock updates...

  2. The food at Smollensky’s was slightly average to me, but if you was to have one dish from this place. The peanut butter cheesecake was to die for! Light and fluffy and if your a peanut butter fan you will certainly get your fix. My friend loved it so much he wanted to buy the whole cheesecake to take home...
