It may be more modestly proportioned than some of its siblings, but this snug basement exhibits all the virtues we have come to expect of the Davy’s group – whether it’s the cosy surroundings or the warmth of the welcome. There’s no formal dining room here, but you can still get stuck into bangers & mash with onion gravy, or perhaps revel in the meatless delights of a spring vegetable & herb risotto. For something lighter, graze from the sharing plates or settle for one of the hot & cold sandwiches. Many wines are available by the glass on the Davy’s list, or you could shell out £65 for a bottle of Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru Caillerets 2003. Despite the bar’s deliberately archaic furnishings, recession-busting set lunches & free Wi-Fi prove that Bangers Too is in touch with the times.
