Sausages feature prominently on the menu of this robustly masculine basement Davy’s, teamed with mashed potato & onion gravy to suitably comforting effect. But the menu is no mere roll call of comfort food favourites, so that while you might start with a traditional chicken liver pate, you could instead go for smoked eel on potato salad with horseradish & beetroot coulis. Similarly, alongside the bangers & steaks, main courses include a voguish yellowfin tuna nicoise salad. Puddings remain resolutely British, with clotted cream for added calories. The Davy’s wine list provides plenty of reasonably priced lubrication from both Old & New world producers. The bar menu is a smaller version of what’s in the grill room, together with sandwiches, platters & snacks.
