The bar of this buzzy Balls Bros branch opposite the Lloyd’s building is all marbled counters & dark wood high stools, while the carpeted restaurant is softer, more plush & cosseting. Think clubby, with heavy buttoned leather chairs, crisp white napery & fusty old books, all of which suit the mostly British nosh on offer. Fish is to the fore, so you could kick off with oak-smoked Scottish salmon with capers & shallots & follow with roast monkfish wrapped in gravad lax, though there are also meat & veggie options. There’s simpler fare at the bar, where there are platters & nibbles in the evening.
