It may not be the stuff of space flights, but when it comes to spectacular views of the London skyline, Richard Branson's seventh-floor Babylon certainly delivers. Kick off your visit with cocktails and aerial sightseeing on the balcony, before moving into the chic dining room with its green furniture, flock wallpaper and yet more London cityscapes. The menu reads simply, but dishes promise pizzazz – notably a starter of sautéed scallops with pickled shiitake mushrooms and edamame beans. For mains, try the commendable roast chicken breast with white-onion cream, violet potatoes and truffle dressing, before signing off with almond cake and banana ice cream. Dating couples abound during the week (note the card of small-talk topics on each table), but the atmosphere gets clubby at the weekends, with a DJ downstairs.
