With its sprawling glass frontage & cavernous white interior you might imagine The Avenue was yet another feng-shui Mayfair gallery, but those in the know are sold on affordable-smart more than unaffordable art. Good ingredients, careful execution & fair pricing show there’s still a place for big-space dining, & those suffering from expense-account withdrawal flock for location-defying lunches of, maybe, grilled mackerel on smoked-aubergine caviar followed by hake with chorizo & lentils or a dainty burger cooked medium, with fries that are crisper than the pristine napery. Prices increase at dinner, but with frequent early-evening discounts & a drinker-friendly wine list, there’s still ample value to be had. Smooth, attentive service adds warmth to the frosty space, while high ceilings prevent noise ever becoming a real issue.

    Avenue Restaurant has a private dining room that is available to book for breakfast, lunch or dinner which can seat between 10 to 20 guests, or up to 35 guests for a standing reception. The room has floor to ceiling windows on both sides, as well as fitted blinds to offer flexible privacy so that you can be as involved with the restaurant as you wish. The private room also boasts natural daylight and a 46-inch LED screen which may be used for presentations. The menus are specially designed by the head chef for private room functions and the bar manager is also able to recommend wines to accompany your meal.
