A meal at this thoroughly romantic eatery might just transport you to the heart of Paris. Headed by gregarious owner Catherine Parisot, the most French of staff provide a warm welcome in the leafy suburbs of St John’s Wood. The daily changing handwritten menus need little explanation, as long as you’re well-versed in bourgeois favourites. You can’t go wrong with the classics here: snails doused in garlic, butter & parsley; smoked salmon pancakes in a creamy sauce; perfectly pink rack of lamb; or delicate steamed sole. Don’t attempt to calorie-count at dessert; go for a rich crème brûlée, the signature caramelised pineapple tart, or indulge in stinky cheeses. Set lunches cost £18.50/£21.50 for two/three courses.
