Square Meal review of L'Aventure:
Cynics who say romance is dead need to pay a trip to L’Aventure, where the front terrace with its twinkly fairy lights is enough to make even the hardest of hearts swoon with delight. Inside there’s a small, homely room, cloaked in thick drapes, hung with tapestries & staffed by polished waiters with thick French accents (who come in handy for explaining the French-language menu). Paying homage to all things Gallic, the menu touts terrine of foie gras or pigeon & artichoke salad to start, ahead of roast rack of lamb with garlic puree. Finish off with a comme il faut creme brulée & something sweet from a wine list that works its way through the classic French regions. Clocking in at £28.50/£35 for two/three courses, this is a model neighbourhood restaurant that continues to tick all the boxes.
