Square Meal review of Adam Street:
Adam Street is a members’ club aimed at the office-less noughties freelancer, but non-members are welcome to use its restaurant & bar if they cough up a £10 cover charge. If that sounds excessive, bear in mind that the set menu is decently priced at £18.50/£23.50 for two/three courses. The modern comfort food is consistently well turned out & might include grilled chicken Caesar salad followed by Inverurie beef rib with bearnaise & chips, & hot chocolate fondant. The global wine list, too, is good value, mostly priced at under £30, organised by drinking characteristic & featuring some curiosities such as Chateau Ste Michelle Pinot Gris from Washington State alongside the Crozes-Hermitage. The vaulted surroundings, both in the dining room & lounge bar area, make a discreet retreat from the hubbub of the Strand.
