Toresano

The flavours of Toro, a village in the heart of Spain’s Castilla y León, are recreated at this demure St John’s Wood eatery. Owner Isidro Cenizo reproduces the food of his native community with much panache, presenting a mouth-watering line-up of colourful dishes to be enjoyed with wines from local bodegas. Cured hams, boquerones (marinated anchovies) & tomato bread are a cracking way to tantalise the taste buds. Continue with yet more tapas – patatas bravas, black pudding with piquillo peppers, or broad bean, ham & chorizo stew – or opt for full-blown main courses such as halibut in a cava, asparagus & lemon sauce, or roast suckling pig. Sunday lunches cost a reasonable £14.50/16.50 for two/three courses & include a fabulous paella.
