Its location opposite Honor Oak Park station makes Try popular with returning commuters, seduced by the colourful interior & good-value tapas. The concise menu has meat, fish & vegetarian sections, with two pre-selected platters to make deciding even easier. Meat tapas are comforting, homespun dishes such as chorizo & butterbean stew or meatballs in a deeply savoury sauce. No tapas joint is complete without patatas bravas & tortilla, but there are also inventive dishes like mushrooms stuffed with pungent Picos de Europa cheese. The short wine list includes some sherries by the glass, & there’s San Miguel on tap. Sunday roasts are a ‘Spanglish’ affair, so roast beef or garlicky chicken might come with green beans flecked with serrano ham. Alternatively, aubergine & Manchego bake makes a great vegetarian dish.
