Square Meal Review of Su Sazzagoni ?

For Victoria Park Village’s ‘staycationing locals’ who can’t get to Cagliari this year, rustic Sardinian trattoria, Su Sazzagoni, will have to do. Its wine list is exclusively from the island, & the menu (a slightly more pan-Italian affair) boasts the likes of culurgiones dumplings with potatoes, cheese & mint, spaghetti with bottarga, & seafood fregola, in among the pizza & pasta. There’s also a growing deli selection of Sardinian bits & bobs alongside Italian larder essentials. The restaurant is popular, & things can get pretty cramped at those long communal tables by night & at the weekend, though by day it makes a quiet hideaway for coffee, cake, focaccia & free Wi-Fi. ‘Superb’ service & a jolly atmosphere go a long way, but variable quality at ‘steep’ prices precludes a wholehearted thumbs up.

My husband and I have been patrons of Su Sazzagoni since it's opening and we have been more than pleased with each visit. The takeout menu is varied and copious and is always ready on time. We also do like to dine in as the atmosphere is relaxed but refined and the service is superb! Overall, this is a wonderful, traditional Italian restaurant and we reccommend it to all.
    Just a quick story-
It was my husband's birthday on Wednesday and I called ahead to ask if the chef could make a special Chicago-style pizza pie for him as we are Chicagoans. The chef agreed and after trying several recipes, he landed on one delicious one, that was served to us at the birthday dinner- as a surprize. My husband was thrilled and the pizza tasted just like home.
All our menu was pre-selected per my request and each item served was more delicious than the next. We were served like the two most special people in the world and left with a great memory.
The whole Su Sazzagoni team went above and beyond for us and we can't thank them enough.

    Buon apetito!

Lovely little restaurant. They had run out of their special Sardinian dessert which seemed strange. The food was very good, not amazing but good. The wine was delicious. £100 for a meal for two though with shared starters and desserts. I think that is quite steep.

Four of us ate at Su Sazzagoni in Victoria park village last night and had a very pleasant evening. The service is attentive, friendly and discreet. We all enjoyed what we had chosen and, unsurprisingly the pasta served Sardinian style was a hot favourite. We had the fregola(a pasta cooked like a risotto) with sea food and the black ink ravioli with crab meat. They both were excellent and very well presented. Great Sardinian house wine. Definitely going again.
