A nation that gave us KD Lang, Keanu Reeves, Pammy Anderson & Will from Will & Grace can’t be bad, so any bar dedicated to the USA’s cooler northern neighbour (climatically & possibly culturally, depending on your viewpoint) has got to be worth checking out. The interior is how you might imagine a Mountie’s den, its butch pine-clad walls hung with shirts from team sports that will mean nothing to the average Brit. Watch them on the big screen as Canadian chaps padded out like Michelin men do unfathomable things on ice skates. Still, the natives are friendly, & beers such as Labatt, Sleeman’s (Silver or Honey Brown) & Moosehead make a pleasant change from the norm. Food includes burgers, meat loaf & Québecois favourite poutine (basically, chips covered in a cheesy curd sauce).
