A spin-off from the original Ben’s Canteen down Battersea way, this new outlet follows the concept to the letter – fine beers, wines and eclectic food served throughout the day in a relaxed, postmodern woody space with some retro styling. On offer are family-friendly all-day breakfasts, brunch classics with bloody Marys, and a lively street-food compendium running from flatbreads and ‘big juicy burgers’ to ‘canteen specials’ such as ‘pimped-up‘ pulled pork nachos, squid and chorizo salad, Asian-style pork broth and ‘epic’ Scotch eggs. Bigger plates might feature, say, chicken and parmesan schnitzel, while desserts take in the likes of spiced rhubarb and yoghurt Eton mess. There’s also plenty for lovers of cappuccino and cake. Meanwhile, drinks run from mainstream cocktails (peach Bellini, cobbler, espresso martini) to beers from Meantime and other craft brewers at tolerable prices.
