DUE TO LATE SUMMER 2014
Ever-resourceful, creatively minded Alan Yau (Wagamama, Busaba Eathai, Hakkasan, Duck & Rice etc) is planning something a bit different for his latest oriental-themed venture. Taking over what was a branch of the Aberdeen Angus Steakhouse chain on Shaftesbury Avenue, Babaji will make a feature of Turkish pide (boat-shaped ‘pizzas’) with all manner of pan-Asian fillings – from chicken with butternut squash and cashews or cod fillet with Thai garlic, lime leaves and chilli to various noodle-based combos (pad thai and so on). The menu will also cast its net wide for the likes of salmon and green mango salad, char-grilled rib-eye with tamarind sauce or chilli prawns on fried rice with shiitake mushrooms – plus sides of fishcakes, spring rolls, chicken satay and morning glory with yellow beans.
