With Lima already strutting its Michelin-starred stuff in Fitzrovia, superstar chef Virgilio Martinez and his partners have brought their upscale Peruvian show to Covent Garden with the launch of a new site on the corner of Floral Street. Occupying a beautiful monastic building that has seen several restaurants come and go, the new venture features many of Lima’s favourite dishes, a generous helping of British produce and some rare Peruvian ingredients. Top calls include scallop ceviche pointed up with chia (a member of the mint family), Amazonian fish with warm causa (seasoned yellow potatoes), and a veggie tiradito involving kohlrabi and quinoa. Lima Floral also features a basement ‘piqueos bar’ serving riffs on pisco sour, cocktails and Peruvian-style small plates.
