Taking up half the available floor space at Lanes of London, this comfortable lounge aims to establish itself as a must-do cocktail spot for locals and visitors alike. Like the restaurant’s food, the drinks list takes its cue from buzzy foodie neighbourhoods including Brick Lane and Edgware Road: it’s a useful introduction for tourists, although cool Londoners are more likely to frequent the real deal. Cocktails are well-executed and elegantly presented: martahini (tahini-washed Grey Goose vodka, dry sherry and lemon) and pi-nam colada (an exotic Kingsland Road/Viet-inspired recipe involving tamarind and peanut ice cream, kaffir, lemongrass and absinthe) are reasonably interesting – although beetroot-tinged West London gimlet is a 'Portobello Road' rinse we will re-visit. Meanwhile, snacks such as fish fingers, beef sliders and samosas are essentially street-stall staples that have landed on one of the Monopoly board’s most expensive squares.
