Square Meal Review of The Strand Dining Rooms ?


Another all-day dining option is due to arrive in the West End in May when The Strand Dining Rooms opens near Trafalgar Square. The 180-cover restaurant is the first solo project from Mark Harris, who was previously general manager of Searcy’s at the Gherkin and brand director at Green’s. Harris has yet to confirm a chef or any specific dishes but says that the menu will be modern British and that the overall experience will focus on ‘all-day eating with real food, exceptional service and value for money’. Wines will come from big-name merchants including Bibendum and Corney & Barrow as well as Burgundy specialists Flint Wines and smaller suppliers such as Decorum Vintners. The restaurant’s interior, meanwhile, will be styled on the polished wood finishes of a traditional Pullman railway carriage and will be designed by Russell Sage Studios, who also worked on Grain Store, Pétrus and Social Eating House.
