The West End has a new all-day dining option in the shape of The Strand Dining Rooms near Trafalgar Square. With 180 covers, this is the first solo project from Mark Harris, who was previously general manager of Searcy’s at the Gherkin and brand director at Green’s. Harris describes the overall experience to be ‘all-day eating with real food, exceptional service and value for money’. Wines come from big-name merchants including Bibendum and Corney & Barrow as well as Burgundy specialists Flint Wines and smaller suppliers such as Decorum Vintners. The restaurant’s interior, meanwhile, is styled on the polished wood finishes of a traditional Pullman railway carriage, designed by Russell Sage Studios, who also worked on Grain Store, Pétrus and Social Eating House.
