Given its affluent young maverick locals, and a pent-up demand for decent beer from thirsty punters attending live gigs around Shepherd’s Bush Green, this end of Goldhawk Road is a savvy location for indie Scottish brewer Brewdog’s latest London venue. The ‘revolutionary’ brand’s now-familiar punk ethos is evident in the new bar’s no-frills, reclaimed wood decor, while a staggering 40 different taps dispense ‘craft beer for the people’. Ask for a taster if you are bamboozled by the likes of Libertine black ale, Suede Imperial porter or ‘teeth and balls’ brews such as Jackhammer – but beware of even wilder stuff including a stonking aged stout brewed with jasmine and cranberry that weighs in at a loony 18 per cent abv. For damage limitation, load up on burgers, smoked chicken wings, chilli dogs or mac ‘n’ cheese; for old-skool fun, play Space Invaders.
