DUE TO OPEN DECEMBER 2013
Clutch will become the latest in a line of chicken-related openings (Wishbone, Chicken Shop, Le Coq) when it hatches in Hoxton before Christmas. The big idea is to take ethically sourced, happy hens from a free-range farm in Wiltshire and give them the deep-fried treatment, using groundnut oil to make things a touch healthier. The menu will include chicken wings, rotisserie chicken and a few salads along with the main attraction: half and whole buckets of fried chicken coated in buttermilk, peanut and chilli or soy and garlic. Twice-fried fries will also be available. There’s a menu of ‘clutchtails’ which includes the sour grouse (a whisky sour made with Famous Grouse) and the gamey gimlet made with Grey Goose vodka. Clutch will be open for brunch on weekends with a menu including chilli scrambled eggs and breakfast burritos.
