Astutely positioned bang opposite KOKO in Camden, this diminutive new cool spot is a spin-off from Simmons in King’s Cross – and thirsty pre-gig crowds familiar with the original will fancy the similarly kitsch, 1950s pose on offer here. Designer beers and wine are available, but it’s all about cocktails – many served in china teapots and mismatching cups for two to share. Dig disco-themed drinks such as banana daiquiri, piña colada, Toblerone and tastes like Elliot (a sweet, fruity Chambord and cream ‘fool’, named after the bar’s owner), or go for a ‘mirrorball’ (a Tom Collins, referencing the bar’s sparkly skull mirrorball à la Damien Hirst). A novelty feature of the place is its one-armed bandit, which designs your cocktail according to a randomly generated (and often icky) line of ingredients – Malibu, orgéat and Coke, anyone?.
