Should the burghers of Greenwich need further incentive to visit this revamped Davy’s cocktail bar, half-price happy-hour hooch might be the answer – especially if the drinks are served with a slice of live jazz (a planned regular attraction). The warm, woody, quasi-clandestine cellars have been handsomely accoutred with assorted Victoriana, so sneak into one of the brick-walled booths and celebrate with a cheeky Champagne cocktail coupe. Cask-conditioned spirits, such as rich rum matured in a coffee-rinsed vintage barrel, are sophisticated bases for classic recipes with a twist. Likewise, various signature mixes come with added interest: the vodka mule has a lemongrass and chilli kick, while a gin Collins is graced by cucumber and elderflower. This being Davy’s, there are quality wines too (not least the own-label selection), as well as lads’ beers, Anglo-Continental bar bites and sharing plates.
