Housed in a former estate agents’ office, this bright Portman Village café is a far sunnier proposition, trading in a market unlikely to burst anyone’s bubble: almighty Aussie-style brunches. The £12 Bondi breakfast emerges with two eggs poached into perfect white orbs on a hunk of toasted sourdough bread, thick bacon, sausage, slow-cooked tomatoes, sliced avocado and mushrooms. It’s a generous plate with colours vibrant enough to match the street art-inspired décor. The breakfast menu deserves praise for its left-field ideas, including croissant bread and butter pudding, oat and quinoa porridge and lamb cutlets, while the lunch features wraps, salads and brioche toasties. There’s a frozen yoghurt menu and coffee comes from boutique Winchester roaster The Roasting Party. Daisy Green doesn’t charge small for a big breakfast, but once you’ve sipped the homemade chai latte, you’ll consider it an intelligent investment.
