Situated on a street corner in the heart of creative Shoreditch, this bright yellow-fronted bakery-cum-café reflects its owner’s Parguayan roots. Many of her ingredients are imported from the home country, and there’s an emphasis on traditional recipes – from alfajores cookies and dulce de leche delights to yerba maté (a native infusion traditionally served in jar and drunk hot or cold). The kitchen also knocks out distinctive versions of English staples such as carrot cake, muffins and lemon meringue pie – not forgetting cheesecakes, fruit tarts and crumbles. There are plenty of organically sourced coffees and teas too, as well as smoothies to sip while you admire the kooky, minimalist interior with its vibrant arty touches and dangling mobiles.
