A fairly recent arrival on the scene, Satuma occupies a ‘blink & you’ll miss it’ site close to Kentish Town station, with a bland frontage & a shoebox interior. It’s well worth tracking down if you’re in the area, as locals are already raving about the sparklingly fresh fish, skilful cooking & charming, personable atmosphere – there are just 10 covers so it’s all quite intimate. Superb ingredients underpin the operation, translating to silky salmon, tuna & yellowtail sashimi, expert maki rolls & some pretty good chicken gyoza. A couple of wildcards are thrown in too; the accommodating Korean manager has brought some of his native cuisine to the table, in traditional dishes such as beef bibimbab (marinated meat & vegetables in a spicy gochujang sauce).
