Perched on the rooftop of the Exchange Building, this modest eatery not only promises terrific views, but is also handy for working breakfasts, coffee and cake or more substantial suppers (Thurs and Fri only). The short daily menu is driven by sustainability and eclectic flavours – think polenta with fried egg and serrrano ham ahead of pork belly with fennel salad or couscous with flabtbread and yoghurt, plus a chocolate and passion fruit dessert to finish. To drink, there’s a knowledgeable list of terroir-led wines (chosen by expert Alex Whyte from Brawn), which can be enjoyed in a striking contemporary setting of hand-made furniture and clean-lined surfaces. A separate decked area and kooky greenhouse (open until September) is perfect for sipping reasonably priced ‘garden cocktails’ (served in mini watering cans), alongside groovy bar snacks and food from the BBQ. Also look out for impromptu arty ‘happenings’.
