A spin-off from the Clerkenwell original, the Holborn branch of Amico Bio follows owner Pasquale Amico’s ethos of ‘green thinking…better living’ to the letter. Most of the ingredients are shipped twice weekly from the family’s organic farm in Capua, near Naples, and the kitchen aims to deliver a daily changing repertoire of fascinating vegetarian dishes with plenty of cameos from vegan and gluten-free specialities. Signature plates such as wholemeal pennette with broccoli and tofu or pan-fried spelt cake with crispy aubergines and salsa verde show the style, although a new menu is being specifically designed for this outlet; also expect tantalising stuzzichini and antipasti, plus some wholesome desserts to round things off. Organic and vegan wines from artisan Italian vineyards make a fitting accompaniment to the food and are true to Amico Bio’s enterprising green spirit.
