Following the success of their jamón stall on Maltby Street’s market, Tozino’s owners have set up London’s first fully formed ‘jamón bodega’ beneath the neighbourhood’s antiquated railway arches. Hand-carved hams from pedigree sources are the mainstays of the brief daily menu (Teruel, Ibérico de Bellota, Joselito Gran Reserva) but you can also get lomo, chorizo, salchichón and other forms of charcuterie, plus artisan cheeses, olives, almonds, breads and bowls of cocidos (a chickpea-based stew). Drinks are currently limited to one white and one red wine from Rioja, although there are plans to offer sherries and Spanish beers too. Special jamón workshops are in the pipeline, and the venue is also handy for buying provisions. It’s all very rough and ready, but right on the money.
