‘Hugely enjoyable and rightfully popular’, this little sibling of nearby Lola Rojo is a real looker – its close-set tables arranged around a hefty, marble-topped bar running down the narrow dining room, with Moorish tiles and bright paintings adding to the mood. Traditional tapas are primed to complement a 20-strong list of ‘well-priced’ sherries (all served by the glass), so pick from snacks and small plates such as tortilla stuffed with haricot beans and nuggets of smoky chorizo, crunchy breaded prawns with smooth chipotle sauce or slivers of top-quality jamón. Petite main courses with mix-and-match sides and sauces hail from the Josper grill – nuggets of invigoratingly fresh fish with firm, sweet piquillo peppers or presa ibérica (a shoulder cut of pork) with creamy smoked aubergines, say. All-Spanish staff provide smiling service despite pushy Clapham crowds clamouring for tables.

The Spanish tapas and sherry bar just open for business on November 6, a little sister of Lola Rojo which is a few blocks away. New menu recreating Madrid tapas scene, a Jasper oven, and a great Sherry selection. Hams hanging in the bar We got for a bit after 12 and breakfast wasn’t available at that time. A bit disappointment but on the other hand we were lucky as we discovered a special Sunday tapas “Roast” menu...
