Square Meal Review of Outlaw's at The Capital ?

After years as a conservative bastion of swanky French cuisine, The Capital has undergone a sea change with Cornwall’s two-Michelin-starred wunderkind Nathan Outlaw now overseeing proceedings. Despite a few ‘stuffy’ reminders of the past, the mirrored dining room feels fresh and modern, if rather hotel-ish. Top-drawer fish dishes are based on supplies from Cornish day boats – perhaps crab piled on toast with shavings of fennel, apple and a hint of curry, turbot on the bone with spinach and red wine, or lobster risotto with orange and basil. Meat eaters aren’t overlooked, either (the slow-cooked ox cheek had one diner in raptures). Service is polite, but not too starched, and the wine list is spectacular. Detractors claim it’s ‘overpriced’ and we’d opine that despite Outlaw’s name, this doesn’t feel like destination dining – but for deep-pocketed fans of simple, impeccably prepared fish, this is ‘not to be missed’.

    Nomface :: Outlaw

    Outlaws at The Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge opened at the start of the year and has already been awarded its first Michelin star. Chef Nathan Outlaw holds two stars at his flagship restaurant in Rock, Cornwall, famous for his seafood cuisine. Being lovers of fish we had high hopes for his London venture. After an eventful trip filled with tube delays and cancellations we arrived a little flustered. We were soon seated and settled down with the menus and a snack of possibly the best fish cakes we've ever tasted...

    Food and other matters of interest :: Outlaw

    Nathan Outlaw is a young British chef who’s made quite a name for himself as one of the country’s leading seafood specialists. Having learned his trade under the great seafood man Rick Stein, he earned 2 Michelin stars at his first restaurant in Devon. His first London restaurant opened earlier this year at the Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge, tucked away on quiet Basil Street just around the corner from Harrods...

    londonfoodaholic :: REVIEW: Outlaw

    Nathan is known for having some of the best and freshest seafood in Cornwall. With him being such a huge success it was only time till he came to London, along with everyone else. He’s now taken over the restaurant at the Capital Hotel in prestigious Knightsbridge. I've been meaning to try it since it opened but only got round to it now. It has a very attractive selling point too, its set-menu...

  4. Restaurant Nathan Outlaw in Cornwall is fine dining but there is also a Seafood and Grill in a separate location serving somewhat simpler fare. This is what is currently on offer at The Capital. Chef Pete Biggs has made the step up from Cornwall. He has worked with Nathan for ten years. Outlaw himself was in the kitchen during the opening weekdays and methinks apart from weekends he will spend his time here until he deems it to be perfect...
