What was the Baby Bathhouse has had a ‘through the looking glass’ makeover and emerged as the White Rabbit. Styled as a cocktail club, its ‘drink me’ potions are a hit with Stoke Newington’s smart Alecs and Alices who are seduced by White Rabbit royale, elderflower julep and Aztec ruin (chilli-infused tequila, rum, chocolate liqueur and orange). Various ‘Hatter’s Bowls’ are also fun to share, although their £25 price tag is far removed from the ‘old money’ label on the original Mad one’s headgear. Nightly happy hours (5-9pm) help reverse this inflationary trend, and there are pizzas and antipasti as tea-party fare – courtesy of nearby restaurant Il Bacio. Chill out in the whimsical Victorian garden or dance until late in the Rabbit Hole – a clubby basement where edgy rock, electro and Balearic beats rule. Add art classes, live gigs and stand-up into the mix and it just gets ‘curiouser and curiouser’.
