Square Meal Review of The English Tea Room at Brown's (afternoon tea) ?

Not one, but two tea sommeliers will hold your hand in the English Tea Room – should the choice of 17 Jing blends and a specially curated’ ‘prestige seasonal tea library’ prove overwhelming. Guests feel thoroughly pampered and relaxed here, and the room itself is just the ticket; the baby grand piano, wood panelling and fireplace spell teatime tradition, while Paul Smith lighting and original artwork suggest time doesn’t stand still on Albemarle Street. As to the menu, expect a continuously replenished supply of finger sandwiches, exquisite cakes from the trolley and freshly baked scones. A ‘tea-tox’, featuring flourless chocolate cake and fruit skewers is available as a healthy alternative. Brown’s is one of London’s most prestigious tea addresses, so don’t come looking for a bargain; prices start at £39.50 (£49.50 with a glass of Ruinart Champagne).

Tea With Me And Friends :: Time for Tea at Brown

After all the themes, quirks and somethings a little bit different that we've enjoyed lately it was wonderful to enjoy a very traditional afternoon tea in The English Tea Rooms at Brown's in Mayfair to celebrate Mother's Day. The jubilant mood was set with a glass of champagne (or a non-alcoholic cocktail if you preferred) and we took our time choosing our teas. Getting in the spirit of Tea Month we opted for three different blends of black tea (optimal for sharing, don't you know!) and were all thrilled to try the Cornish tea which had a lovely depth of flavour and just goes to show that we Brits can do anything when we put our minds to it, even grow tea in our capricious climate!...

Samphire and Salsify :: Brown’s Hotel: Afternoon Tea

Brown’s is a luxury five star hotel in Mayfair and was opened in 1837 as London’s first ever hotel. I thought it would be the perfect place for a spot of “legendary” afternoon tea with my Mum and sister and although it was a pleasant experience...

  3. If you want to go for a traditional English Afternoon Tea, then you must try the Tea Room at Brown’s hotel. It is quite formal and an excellent treat for a special occasion. This venue and its Afternoon Tea was awarded the “Top London Afternoon Tea 2009″ by the Tea Guild. Brown’s has an extensive range of teas; a total of 17 teas to choose from. We finally decided to go for the Cornish grown tea and Brown’s Afternoon Blend. I was intrigued by the Cornish grown tea as it is the first true English tea, which is grown in a tea plantation near Truro! Both teas were great and were served in silver teapots. We were given additional hot water and a jug of milk. The staff also replaced our cups and refilled our teapots halfway through our Afternoon Tea sitting!...
