Kensington’s Milestone Hotel serves afternoon tea with a flourish and a sense of ceremony that’s matched by deliciously OTT surrounds. You can either luxuriate amid the plump cushions and ornate sofas of the Park Lounge or make it a contemporary experience tinted with graphic black, white and high gloss in the Conservatory. Either way, the daily line-up offers a good range of menus, from £15.50 for a simple cream tea right up to a ‘Ruinart Seduction’ at £100 (for two) inclusive of sandwiches and pastries, strawberries and cream and a half-bottle of the good stuff. The weenies are not forgotten, either; they can have a ‘little prince or princess’ version with hot chocolate. Aficionados with find some unusual blends for sipping, such as China tea mixed with white chocolate hearts or dried lemon peel.
