Square Meal Review of Chicken Shop ?

Housed in a cosy candlelit basement, this venue from the Soho House Group (next door to Pizza East) is a one-trick pony celebrating the delights of roast chicken. Inside it's lined with mirrored wooden cabinets, and the vintage look is enhanced by diner-style tables, red chairs and a long wooden counter. Chalked up on the wall, the basic menu offers free-range Norfolk chickens served by the quarter, half or whole. Marinated, steamed, then finished on the rotisserie grill, the meat is deliciously juicy with perfectly crisp skin. Generously portioned sides are delivered in blue-rimmed enamel dishes, and you can get your chilli kicks from the house ‘hot' sauce. Finally, sweet treats such as deep-filled apple pie draw proceedings to a satisfied conclusion. In short, this is highly effective, hip comfort food for the iPad generation. Takeaways, too.

Frenchy love food :: CHICKEN SHOP - Chicken time !

Second visit at 79 Highgate Road in Kentish Town: this time was at Chicken Shop. My first visit was at Dirty Burger. I went there for a Sunday Brunch with some friends , we ordered a whole and a half chicken, two corns on the cob (each dish got 3 corns inside), three crinkle cut fries and one coleslaw. It was totally enough for 4 people, we didn't finish all but we were happy to learn that you can ask for a 'Doggy bag' if you want to keep the rest of your chicken...

samphire and salsify :: Chicken Shop

If you like chicken, then you had better take a trip to Chicken Shop – Soho House Group’s latest offering in Kentish Town. It’s in the same building as Dirty Burger and Pizza East (also owned by SHG) but we found the entrance to Chicken Shop quite hard to find. An open door leading to a staircase with no signage meant we walked past it before finally realising what it was...

London Bar Scene :: The Chicken Shop, Kentish Town 15/20*

A vague recollection that something was happening in Kentish Town took us out for the first official night of Chicken Shop, an offshoot of Soho House’s Pizza East and Dirty Burger out the back. We were not planning to stay, we came for the burgers, but at these prices we could not resist. Offered the choice of a table or counter by our enthusiastic American waiter we went for counter. (They should install bag hooks straight away). The restaurant is wood clad but it only feels like a Scandanavian sauna in the toilets, otherwise the look is rustic cook house, which I imagine is what they are going for. Leather diner chairs and metal marketing plaques round the walls give the 1950’s look and the wood on the ceilings and walls continues with large wooden cupboards along one wall and a counter that functions as both the bar and the chopping board for the chicken as well as a seating area. Cutlery (and tooth picks) come in white metal cups (think prison style) and sauces are “smoky” (aka hot) or hot!...
