Square Meal Review of East Street Restaurant ?

With its gaudy frontage, brightly coloured furniture, illuminated signs hanging from the ceiling and silent cartoon movies projected onto the wall, East Street looks like a Bangkok street café transported to the outer reaches of Fitzrovia. As you’d expect, the place generates a lot of noise as staff whizz around with steaming bowls of noodles, one-plate rice dishes and all manner of pan-Asian canteen goodies. Japan contributes edamame, yakitori and katsu curries, Korea offers bulgogi, Vietnam is represented by pho and shaking beef, and there are outings for generic satays, Singaporean laksa, Malaysian kway teow noodles and more besides. Accompaniments ranging from kimchi to wok-fried pak choy in oyster sauce can be mixed and matched accordingly, while drinks include Asian beers, a few exotic cocktails and a fistful of wines. Takeaways too.

  1. This was not an establishment I found on purpose. After an afternoon of failed ventures around Covent Garden trying to find the Icecreamists, myself and Sammi felt extra gluttonous and sad to find it was closed down a while back from a lack of business. But here are the 3 reasons why I’m glad we found East Street: 1. The closest feeling to escaping the country 2. Reasonable prices 3. A long list of exotic dishes to choose from...

    laymytable :: East Street

    What I love about East Street is it’s cool, easy and cheap. It’s a no fuss sort of place that has awesome decor and good food. The food isn’t out of this world, amazing, but it is good. They use fresh ingredients and really just get the point. You want to go here when you want a good old catch up with friends and you don’t need to worry about cost, service, quality etc as its all there, express style...
