The cool elegance of this branch of the Flavors mini-chain matches its trendy Fitzrovia location with pale leather seating, polished wood floors, stylish illumination and discreet alcove booths half-concealed by wispy drapes. The menu has also been gussied up for the local crowd, with curry-house staples such chicken jalfrezi, rogan josh and lamb korma playing second fiddle to a selection of crossover appetisers (masala nachos, tofu tikka, crunchy stuffed peppers) and grills – perhaps tandoori rabbit, hot garlic chicken or ‘fusion wine fish’ (tilapia marinated in white wine, lemon juice and Italian herbs). Vegetarians do well here, with a decent choice of mains as well as the obligatory sides – check out the ‘naaza’ vegetable kebabs, bhindi dopiaza and paneer lebadar (Indian cottage cheese cooked with cream and chopped tomato gravy). To drink, Kingfisher and Cobra beer are alternatives to the short global wine list. Takeaways too.
