This award-winning North London take on an old-school Irish bar looks like the kind of place TV’s toast of Dublin, Mrs Brown’s Boys, would hang out – perfect for acting the maggot and enjoying the craic with hospitable Roscommon expat staff who have been serving Stokie for over 20 years. By way of entertainment, expect anything from Irish jigs to Bowie nights with themed food and plenty of crying into pints of well-kept/properly poured black stuff, Becks, Bud or Courage; if a maudlin Sinatra ballad is playing, order a whiskey chaser too. Ultimately, Irish eyes prefer to smile – especially when their horse just came in, and their team is scoring tries or goals on the big screen. Otherwise chill in the beer garden out back.
