A black frontage and black awnings mark out this neighbourhood Indian on cobbled Battersea Square, but the interior puts on a more colourful face with rich tones, artwork and elegant table settings creating a relaxed, urbane mood. The kitchen offers a full contingent of curry-house staples including chicken tikka, rogan josh and lamb biryani, but also look for more upbeat ideas such as crab cakes with mango and chilli ‘drizzle’, duck samosas, prawns moilee in coconut sauce with curry leaves, and tilapia fillets cooked with five-spice masala and tomatoes – not forgetting mixed platters designed for sharing. There are some commendable wines on the global list; otherwise a pint of Cobra should suffice. Outdoor BBQs are a hit when the sun shines, and the restaurant also does takeaways and local deliveries.
