A cheap and speedy outlet for sushi and other Japanese basics, this little joint on thundering Euston Road does a great service locally (check out the student discounts and bento boxes). There’s not much decor to speak of – just a few paper lanterns, some low tables at the back and a trademark conveyor belt dispensing clear plastic boxes filled with all manner of goodies, so order one of the ‘sets’ to get a taste of the place – the ‘mixed’ version brings four tuna futomaki and six different nigiri, all for less than £7. Alternatively, try the sashimi, triangular onigiri (rice balls wrapped in seaweed), donburi rice plates, noodle soups or the Japanese curries. Sushi-So is unlicensed, but you can wet your whistle with green tea, aloe vera and other soft drinks. You can also book the ‘sushi belt’ for parties, and there’s a delivery service too.
