Not much more than a hole in the wall with a bench or two outside, this elder sibling of Sushi-So on Euston Road is a cheap, speedy kiosk dealing in sushi and other Japanese basics (check out the student discounts and bento boxes). Inside, the counter and fridge are loaded up with clear plastic boxes filled with all manner of goodies, so order one of the ‘sets’ to get a taste of the place – the ‘mixed’ version brings four tuna futomaki and six different nigiri, all for less than £7. Alternatively, try the sashimi, triangular onigiri (rice balls), donburi rice plates, noodle soups or the Japanese curries. Sushi-So is unlicensed, but you can wet your whistle with green tea, aloe vera and other soft drinks.
