Huge arty images of famous faces give this long-serving Kensington Indian an almost clubby vibe far removed from your average high-street curry joint. ‘Officer’s lamb chops’ in honey sauce, stuffed sea bass and chicken breast with homemade paneer, spring onions and ginger are house specials, but the menu also takes in more familiar-sounding dishes such as vegetable samosas, chicken jalfrezi, rogan josh and king prawn dopiaza, plus a decent selection of veggie sides and breads. To drink, order a Cobra beer, lassi or a refreshing jeeri pani (spiced lemon water with cumin and chilli). A private dining room below stairs is popular for big parties and corporate get-togethers. Khan’s is also handily placed for the Albert Hall and the museums over the road.
