With Champagne cocktails for a fiver and the likes of coconut martini, hibiscus bellini and um bongo (a Finlandia mango and Passoa fruity mule) for even less, there are reasons aplenty to shut down your PC on the stroke of 5pm for an extended happy hour at this weekdays-only City offshoot of Babble, Mayfair. What was the old Wall Bar has been given a slick, metrosexy makeover (think Gossip Girl), and although the venue styles itself as a ‘premium’ bar and club (complete with party packages), we predict an economy-class clientele drawn to wines from £18.50, evening bites and sharing pots from £3.50 (paella, crunchy chicken fillets, meatballs in tomato and red wine sauce). There’s also a more substantial, keenly priced lunch menu incorporating sausage and horseradish mash, wild mushroom risotto, salmon niçoise, cheeseboards and calorific puds.
