Square Meal Review of Ben's Canteen ?

Ben’s Canteen serves fine beers, wines & ‘British food done well’ to the chattering classes who ping-pong between this increasingly interesting Wandsworth enclave & nearby Northcote Road. A relaxed, postmodern woody interior with retro styling & alfresco tables sets the scene for child-friendly breakfasts (served all day), dinner & everything in between. Order brunch classics, toasties, soups, stews with dumplings, bangers, burgers, zingy salads, mussels in cider & a run of meaty mains such as pork belly on savoy cabbage with fig gravy & herb-crusted potatoes or oxtail & horseradish with pearl barley risotto. Puds include trifle with lemon posset, & there’s plenty for lovers of cappuccino & cake. To drink, try mainstream cocktails – good mojito, caipirinha, raspberry mule – plus beers from Meantime, Samuel Smith, BrewDog & local boys, Sambrook’s at tolerable prices.

    TWO LOVES LONDON :: REVIEW: Ben's Canteen

    Last weekend my boyfriend Patrick & I decided to sample the delights of Ben's Canteen on St John's Hill, London. Advertised as the place on the hill, Ben's Canteen serves brunch, dinner & drinks 7 days a week. We opted for brunch having heard that it's seriously yummy. After 5pm they serve small plates & juicy burgers which from the website also look pretty epic. Ben's Canteen is just a short walk from Clapham Junction station. I went for good ol' Eggs Royale with a side of smashed avocado. Patrick went for the Big Ben which is your classic English breakfast. Sadly he started nomming before I could get a photo (tut)! We also got some skin on chips and enjoyed squirting ketchup on them with a novelty tomato sauce bottle...

    Burgers And Bruce :: Ben

    Since starting Burgers and Bruce a few months back I have become quite aware that most of the burgers on here are of a pretty high standard. It's not because I've only eaten bad burgers - the thing is, for me, bad burger reviews are SO much harder to write up because I just don't have that excitement behind it. Difficult as it may be, I feel I should post about the average burgers, even if it's a short "god this burger really did not do it for me"...
