For his third venture, Vivek Singh has taken the high-end cooking of The Cinnamon Club, combined it with the modern surrounds of City-based Cinnamon Kitchen, and added some ‘small plate’ riffs for the Soho crowd. The dimly lit interior mixes urban concrete and dark-wood panelling with soft teal banquettes and vivid modern artworks to stylish effect, and the wide-ranging menu offers all manner of sophisticated yet comforting dishes. Get started with a roasted chilli pepper filled with spiced paneer or crisply crumbed nuggets of lamb’s brains, ahead of slow-roasted ox-cheek vindaloo or the homely yet exotic rogan josh ‘shepherd’s pie’ – a richly spiced speciality that deserves to become a house classic. To finish, desserts such as ‘lassi’ pannacotta with tamarind-glazed gigs blend Indian flavours with French naughtiness. Add low prices, tuned-in staff, cocktails and a ballsy wine list, and this all-day venue looks like a Soho winner.
