Said to be based on Coco Chanel's private salon at her Rue Cambon HQ, this bijou cocoon offers couture cocktails with a Gallic accent. Lounge on leather banquettes as belle époque staff dressed like characters from a Guy de Maupassant novel rustle up Pépé le Moko (Eldorado 8-year rum, Ardbeg 10-year-old whisky, orange and whisky-barrel bitters), Miss Mistinguett (a vodka and amontillado-based high-kicker infused with a hint of Provençal garrigue) and Milord – an amber vodka martini to sing about. Also expect wines by the glass, interesting beers such as Williams Ceilidh, and some Franglais snacks – vintage Cheddar and Trealy Farm ham in brioche, spiced Devon crab gratin on toast, superior charcuterie platters, Scottish beef burgers with tartiflette, Reblochon and onions, quiches, kedgeree, tuna niçoise and black pudding Scotch egg. Vive l'entente cordiale!
