The original of a pair of colourful Indian/Pakistani canteens-cum-takeaways, this Tooting eatery started life as a street-corner shop, but has blossomed into a bright, contemporary space with an expansive glass frontage, splashes of green colour, rows of bare tables & funky seats. The menu is dominated by grills & tandoori specialities (lamb chops, tikkas, shami kebabs), but you can also get a host of biryanis, dhansaks, kormas, jalfrezis & other curry-house standbys; also don’t miss the best-selling masala fish & other regional specials such as paya (goat’s feet curry) or haleem (a Lahori dish of lamb, cracked wheat & lentils). To drink, order salt or sweet lassi, falooda or peshwari qawa (mint tea).
