Beillevaire

The only UK outpost of a small French chain, Beillevaire’s pungent aroma precedes it: cheese & dairy products are its raison d’être. Kitsch in the form of hay-filled pouffes, cowhide stools & lime-green chairs provides the scant indoor & outdoor seating; otherwise, it’s a case of ordering your plat formule at the counter & taking it away with you. The café does a brisk breakfast trade in homemade yoghurt with bread, butter & coffee (£8.50), while lunch brings a selection of up to five different cheeses (£11) from the company’s factory in Nantes. Beillevaire’s products are all for sale in the shop, & the place has already established itself as a supplier to gastronomic hotspots in the neighbourhood.
