A good choice among the handful of pubs lining the Hammersmith-to-Barnes stretch of the Thames, this Young’s establishment is an idyllic spot, even if the food sometimes disappoints. When the sun is shining, grab a spot on the upstairs terrace, or loll on the grass & enjoy the river view. Inside, stripped wood, exposed brickwork & Chesterfield sofas set the tone, & crisp, clear Young’s ale is dispensed from behind the long bar. The adjacent smart dining room has large windows overlooking the river. The menu is served throughout, though rarely departs from standard pub grub. Chicken-liver parfait, beefburger & battered hake & chips are competently assembled, & there are also a few decent sharing platters. Sunday lunch is a popular choice, & breakfast is served through the week.
