Overlooked by a mezzanine restaurant, the monochromatic, ground-floor bar at this Norman Foster-designed South Ken classic works as a destination in its own right for the Made in Chelsea set. Well-balanced cocktails take their cue from the neighbourhood’s legacy as a fashion hotspot – hence ciao Tina Chow, God save McQueen (José Cuervo tequila, cardamom, vanilla & pomegranate juice) & l’oeuf is the drug – a ‘glamrocktail’ that flips Cognac, quince, caramel & egg white. Bottle service from £150 is the done thing as the room ramps up to a late-night club, while food is of the tapas variety – think garlic & chilli squid or cured beef with tomato bread. Service is ‘sweet verging on giddy’, & the catwalk-style entrance is a dry run for any budding Kate Moss.
